Eleonora (Poe)
A man from a family known for their vivid imagination and passionate nature fell in love with his cousin, Eleonora.
They lived together in a secluded valley, surrounded by beautiful flowers and trees. The valley was so remote that no one else had ever set foot there. They spent their days happily, exploring the valley and enjoying each other's company.
And life arose in our paths; for the tall flamingo, hitherto unseen, with all gay glowing birds, flaunted his scarlet plumage before us.
One day, Eleonora realized that she was going to die soon. She was afraid that after her death, the man would leave the valley and fall in love with someone else. To ease her fears, the man vowed never to marry another woman and to remain faithful to Eleonora's memory. Eleonora died peacefully, and the man continued to live in the valley, which gradually lost its vibrant colors and beauty.
Years passed, and the man eventually left the valley to explore the world. He found himself in a bustling city, where he was captivated by the beauty of a woman named Ermengarde.
Despite his vow to Eleonora, he fell deeply in love with Ermengarde and eventually married her. Surprisingly, he did not suffer any consequences for breaking his vow.
One night, he heard Eleonora's voice in the wind, telling him that he was forgiven for breaking his vow and that he should live happily with Ermengarde.
Sleep in peace! for the Spirit of Love reigneth and ruleth, and, in taking to thy passionate heart her who is Ermengarde, thou art absolved.
The man was relieved and grateful for Eleonora's understanding and forgiveness, and he continued to live his life with Ermengarde, cherishing the memories of his time with Eleonora in the valley.
